Core Sample
Variety of pipe sizes
Wooden Log - Around 1823
Hollowed out logs of variable lengths were used to transport manufactured gas. They were milled to have a male end and were wound with spirals of loosely spaced iron bands as well as coated on the outside with asphalt or similar bituminous substance.
30B American Meter
Cast iron, low pressure leather diaphragm 550 ft3/hr. Meter repaired at Union Gas from 1930's until 1970's. By today's standards, it would have been used in a small commercial application.
25B American Meter
Cast iron, high pressure leather diaphragm 400 ft3/hr. Meter repaired at Union Gas from 1930's to 1970's. Used when heaters required on high pressure stations.
Rockwell Roto Seal Rotary Meter
Cast Iron, EQU/W Volume/pressure recorder. Very limited use at Union Gas.
Rockwell RC1000 meter which is still used
at Union Gas today
Canadian Meter Water Pressure Temperature Recorder
The water pressure temperature recorder was adaptable to different manufacturers' meters through mechanical linkage. Used by Union Gas during 1950's, 60's and 70's.

Tobey Meter
The Tobey Meter was developed in 1891. Cast Iron Meter with 3 leather diaphragms and available in 4 sizes. This is an example of second smallest.
American 5B Iron Case
First developed in 1889 by Metric Metal Co. in Pennsylvania. It has 2 leather diaphragms (standard meter configuration) and was used and repaired at Union Gas until Mid 1970.
Tobey
Tobey was a small residential meter used and repaired by Union Gas.
Canadian/American Aluminum Body Rotary Meter
Limited use at Union Gas.
American Tin Case Meter
American Tin Case Meter was first developed in 1905. 5B (or 5 light) residential meter popular with Union Gas and used through the 1960's. (Note: wax Government Inspection Seal)

Chandler Dead Weight Tester
They are used
to measure the pressure exerted by a gas and generate a test
pressure for the calibration of pressure gauges, electronic
pressure calibrators, transducers, transmitters, records, etc.
Chandler Dead Weight Tester - Close Up
No other device can match the stability, repeatability and accuracy of the deadweight tester. Accuracy - 0.05% of indicated pressure, traceable to the National Institute of Standard and Technology (NIST). Weight, 80 pounds. Used in field testing.
Temperature Compensated Tangent
Temperature Compensated Tangent from a large diaphragm Rockwell Meter approx. 1975 - 2000. From an RC10000 which was the largest diaphragm meter made by Rockwell used in commercial applications, eg. Churches, Schools, etc.
Dresser Temperature Compensated Mechanical Counter for Rotary Meters
Repaired at Union Gas beginning in 1970's and are now replaced with electronic modules.
Parlour Meter (American Meter)
First "dry meter" used in mid 1800's with viewing windows to enable customers to see how they worked. This was an indoor meter usually installed in the homes of affluent people to
"show off" having natural gas service and are often highly decorative.
Display Model of Modern AL225 meter
It widely used by Union Gas from 1950 as a residential meter. Model number has changed to ACM250 and is still used today. It consists of an aluminum case, rubber diaphragm and temperature compensation was added in 1975.
American Meter WI-45
American Meter WI-45, 45 cu. Ft./hr. 1960 demo meter. Not used at Union Gas. An example of a very small meter for use in a residential setting.

It has an aluminum case and was not used by Union Gas for residential meters.
Schlumberger (formerly Sprague) SL-250 Tin Case Residential Meter
This was not used by Union Gas.
Superior Steel Cased Meter
The superior steel cased meter was an older version and probably not used by Union Gas. Newer versions with aluminum cases were used at Union Gas.
American Meter Orifice Plate
Stainless Steel used to measure large volumes of gas in pipelines, where there was constant flow pressure.
